On August 15th of this year, James and I will celebrate our 10th anniversary. We'd like to take a bit of a trip, a little vacation, just the two of us. Do you have any favorite vacation spots to share with us?
Here are some criteria:
1. Can't be too expensive. We're looking at 5 days, probably, and need to keep it reasonable.
2. We like to do stuff - zoos, hiking, museums, but not big-city stuff. No interest in Chicago or NYC or any other super-metropolitan area.
3. It would be nice if it's not six thousand degrees. We get enough blazing hot weather here. In fact, a cooler destination is particularly desirable.
Please, share with me your ideas & experiences! Right now I'm leaning toward San Diego, but it's kinda pricey, so I need your help!

I think you should look into a cruise if you have never gone on one. They are really reasonable in price since it includes a room and meals and lots of entertainment. You can probably pick a cooler destination too.
Colorado has some great weather during the summer too.
I would like to go to Door County, WI sometime. www.doorcounty.com
Have you ever been to northern Michigan? It is absolutely beautiful this time of year. I grew up going to Traverse City several times a year and have such great memories. It's right on Lake Michigan and has lots to do without being touristy or too hot. That part of the state is filled with cherry trees and tons of lakes and cute b&bs. Plus, you can go to Mackinac Island via the Mackinac bridge and once there, no cars allowed, just tons of fudge shops and bike paths and lilacs. Hmm, I'm making myself all nostalgic. Whatever you choose, I hope you have fun!
For our honeymoon, we went to Minnesota. It was an all-inclusive place, which worked out to be cheaper than motel + food + activities. They have different packages (which can sometimes make it cheaper) and different types of accommodations. We loved it! The place is called Gun Flint lodge:

It fits your criteria, so check it out. :)
You guys have given me great ideas! Keep them coming! :-)
I usually suggest the beach, but since you don't want to deal with hot weather..... I loved Colorado and Wyoming. I'd go again in a heartbeat. My fave place is Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park. Lots of hiking, camping, nature stuff, and a little bit of shopping.
