We're going through a bit of a rough patch with Wendy. Yesterday was the Day Of No Napping. That might be fine if she really didn't need a nap, but she was exhausted and just refused to relax enough to sleep. As a result, she was cranky and prone to fits all day long; she didn't get to go to church last night because she would've been awful.
This is her only nap yesterday:
Maybe next time she fights sleep I'll put her in the high chair with her crayons.

The napless days are the worst. When Pi started to refuse to nap, we started enforcing "rest time." She has to stay in her room, on her bed for at least an hour every afternoon. I turn out the light, turn on her "night time songs" and give her a book. Most days she falls asleep.
We're not there yet, but I know we're not far behind you. I like Nichole's idea of a rest time. I think if a tired toddler is lying quietly long enough, they'll succumb to sleep. At least, that is my hope!
Hope today is better!
I agree, that the lying quietly is a good idea. The problem comes with keeping her in the toddler bed - she tries to out-stubborn me by getting up every 2 minutes. She just pops right up like toast.
I enjoyed reading through your blog. Sounds like you stay busy! I think I'll stick to pets-they are enough for me!
Jeni, what if you put a gate at the door to her room during her rest time? We used to do this with Caden until he learned to stay in his room -- on his bed. At first we just let him roam around in there because eventually he got tired and got in bed to sleep -- it's kinda hard at this age, though, I think. Chase is definitely not ready for toddler bed-dom -- he is too crazy! Caden, on the other hand, was a little more of a rule-follower.
