...In Which I Could Use Some Moral Support.

OK, y'all. Today, according to my pregnancy calendar at WebMD, I'm 6 weeks and 1 day pregnant.

And I'm wearing maternity pants.

(I think when I put them on, I heard my body go, "Ahhhh....")

Here's the thing: I've mentioned before that I have fibroids. I do. Two large ones. By large, I mean one is grapefruit-sized, and one is larger than that. I know, it's probably TMI, but you have to know that to understand why I'm already wearing maternity pants. Even before we conceived this time, I measured around 12 weeks pregnant! Add a new pregnancy, and the hormones that make fibroids grow, and, well...I'm self-conscious and big.

It's not like it's anybody's business whether I'm wearing stretchy-panel pants or not. But for some reason, I'm very self-conscious about it.

I could use some confidence-boosters. Anybody?

Did I mention I'm self-conscious?

I was wearing prego pants six weeks in with the 2nd and I didn't have fibroids. Third one, I went straight to mu mu's, just kidding, but it's normal to be bigger sooner.

I'll pray everything goes well.

Just rock those cute maternity shirts. Wear them with confidence. You ARE pregnant. And you're doing "God's work." Be proud. Glow.

yes, it's normal to "show" sooner with your 2nd. The bad thing is when, at 14 weeks, you can no longer wear your maternity jeans. ahem (that was me, btw)

I put on a pair of sweatpants as soon as I saw the plus-sign on the pregnancy test with Graham. Embrace the comfy clothes!

Just go with the fun, stretchy pants and enjoy the wonderful stirrings that are soon to begin!! I DO so miss that.

I personally think that whenever you have an excuse to wear comfy pants you should just go with it.

One of my favorite lines from "The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy" is along the lines that, with your second and subsequent pregnancies, you will need maternity clothes approximately 5 seconds after the pregnancy test turns positive. The abdominal muscles sense the news and just cave in.

So you're not alone.

Oh, rock it! If had an excuse to wear cozy pants all the time, I totally would. I bet you look cute!

I've got three things to say. =)

1.) As everyone else has assured you - its normal to show earlier in subsequent pregnancies. This is partially because your muscles are more elastic (a.k.a. stretched out and will never be 'exactly' the same as they were before) and partially because your body knows what it's doing now and it just dives right into business.

2.) For me, especially with my 2nd and 3rd, I needed comfy or maternity pants almost from the beginning. It wasn't that my tummy was large. It was that my tummy was sensitive to the constricting non prego pants. They weren't comfortable. Period. And hey - when your prego, comfy is IMPORTANT. If you can get comfy now do it because you know it's going to be difficult to get comfy at the other end of pregnancy.

3.) Like you said, it's nobody's business. Go for it! (Though we're all here to give you confidence boosts when you need it.) :)

Be comfy in your stretchy pants, they beat buttons and snaps everytime. :0)

I too was wearing pregnancy clothes much earlier the second time around - that is totally normal!

Before my total hyst years ago, I also had uterine fibroids (along with endometriosis and ovarian cysts). I am curious - do they pose any threat to your pregnancy? I got mine after I had my kids, but they certainly interfered with monthly issues.
