WFMW: Backwards Edition

This week at We Are THAT Family, the weekly Works-For-Me Wednesday tip carnival is a backwards edition. That means that instead of offering up my incredibly insightful and life-saving advice (ha!) I get to ask a question, and hopefully you comment & give me some ideas.

I am going to a wedding in a few weeks, and wearing this beautiful black dress. [Aside: I know it's not typical to wear a black dress to a wedding, but the bride suggested that people dress in the wedding colors, which are black and red. I look awful in red - hello, Rosacea! - so black it is!] It's a lovely dress, but it needs something. The ceremony will be held indoors in the late afternoon with an evening reception.

What kind of shoes should I wear? Keep in mind that I will be chasing a 3 1/2 year old and a 1 year old; beautiful but terribly uncomfortable shoes will simply not work.

What kind of jewelry or other accessories?

Help?

Indoor or outdoor? Afternoon or evening wedding?

I am most definitely not the person to ask about fashion -- especially accessorizing. I do, however, think that's a very cute dress!

What if you get of those fake pearl/beaded jewelry in red? I think that would like nice with the black dress and be in the wedding colors? Not sure about the shoes. Sorry.

I think you should find a wide red belt and patten leather red flats.

Or a red ribbon belt and fun red sandals.

The dress has lots of possibilities.

Cute dress! What about wearing ballet-type flats...black, red or silver would look cute.

It's a cute dress! It is my dream to be a personal shopper. For shoes I'd do some kind of wedge sandal maybe? A wedge is usually more stable than other heels. More comfortable too. Endless.com has a great variety of shoes, and free shipping. I'd go for a big chunky necklace.
The links are really long, but search for the Rockport Women's Emily Ankle Wrap Sandal on endless. Super cute. And I'll bet really comfortable. Then look at Target.com for the Layered Crocheted Bead Necklace - Red (22"). Have fun!

Cute dress. It needs color. So I would also suggest some kind of colorful flats/belt. Also a statement necklace. Bib necklaces are in style and some are very cute. I saw a couple in the JCP sale paper the other day.
PS. Your kids are adorable in your banner.

Strappy silver sandals, low heeled, would be perfect! Add some silver jewelry and WOW! :-)
