My sweet baby...

Church yesterday morning was hard, as was expected. The place was jampacked with crying, hugging people, all not believing that our beloved Evette was gone. The service was not at all a typical service; it was mainly a devotional of prayer and song.

The songs always get me. It wasn't even her memorial service - that's coming up Wednesday - but the songs always break my heart. No Tears In Heaven, Blest Be The Tie That Binds, This World Is Not My Home, etc. It's so hard to sing when you're crying.

At one point, my Wendy was sitting on my left knee, with my left arm around her. I was holding my soggy Kleenex in my right hand, with tears running down my cheeks. My sweet baby turned and looked at me, the took the Kleenex from my hand and dabbed my face with it...

That gets me all choked up again for different reasons. I just love my girl to pieces.

Please continue to pray for Jason, Brette, Sydney, and Blake Allison, as they say goodbye to their wife and mother on Wednesday.

Jeni, we are praying for your congregation! I can't imagine what you all are going through. What a shock! If you need to talk at all, I am here.
Children really pick up on our moods, especially our grief. Gavin saw me crying in church one time, watched me all through church, then after services were over, came over, gave me a hug, looked up and smiled, and then ran off to play. He never said a word, but he definitely conveyed that he cared!

By the way, the pictures of the bench were up. I accidentally hit publish before I was done and that is what you must have read. The post is up in its entirety now.

When Nichole sent it to me, she just said that she had thought of me when she read it and that she hoped she was not overstepping her bounds.
As long as you tell her in the email what it is about, you can let her decide if and when she wants to read it. That has been helpful to me. The thing you don't want to do is just spring it on her without any warning. I will be posting soon on what things have helped us and what things have not. Maybe that will help you, also.
