Then I remembered that some people bake bacon in the oven.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Line two large SIDED baking sheets with heavy-duty foil
- Place bacon strips in a single layer on the sheets
- Bake 12-18 minutes, to desired crispness
When it comes out of the oven, I immediately put the bacon on a paper-towel-lined plate to drain. Then I carefully lift the foil & funnel the grease into a bowl to keep.
Let's see - wonderful, crunchy bacon with no mess, no spattering, and no clean-up! That definitely works for me!!

I have tried that before and it always smoked really bad. I don't think I put down the foil. Maybe that would make it better. Thanks for the tip!
I've done that before and it does work great. If I don't want to take the time though, and am not concerned about saving the grease, I put a few slices on a paper towel on a microwave safe plate and put paper towel on top of it and microwave it 3-5 mins or until it reaches the crispness I want. Hubby likes his soft, I like mine really crisp and this works welll for me
Great idea! Thanks!
We're bacon bakers, too. We put the bacon on a rack fitted in the sheet pan though so that it doesn't sit in the grease, allowing it to crisp faster. One big reason I love this method is that it doesn't smell up the house like the microwave or stove top do.
Hmmm ... I may have to go bake me some bacon!
As much as I love bacon, I've never tried baking it! Thanks for the idea.
I always make my bacon this way, with one exception. I use my stoneware bar cookie pan. The bacon grease seasons the stoneware marvelously. This does require clean-up, though.
great tip! i have done it before and it does work well. i have to make sure i put on the oven fan b/c it always make the smoke detector go off. i saw on rachel ray yesterday that you can drizzle on maple syrup or brown sugar on the raw bacon before cooking to make it even yummier. never thought of that.

I've done this before with my broiler pan, but the foil is just genius! Thank you for sharing. :)
Wow, this is great! I have a package of bacon in my fridge just ready to cook, I'm going to try this tonight!
